Canadians ain't American; Hongkongers ain't Chinese

Canada is a country in the American continent.  Canadian lives are very integrated into the American economy, from groceries to gasoline, my family acquire goods and services from south of the border.  We may have watched too much TV and lost the bloody Queen's accent, so now we even speak like an American.  Yet, we will never admit ourselves as American.  We will take offence if someone has mistaken us as an American.  We will insist that the mistake being corrected.

Yes, the we are friends now.  We treat each other as equal.  But not after generations of bloodshed.  For the longest time, Americans believe they have the mandate to government the entire New World.  They see European colonization as the root of all the evils in the World.  At the same time, loyalist from the original 13 colonies ran north to escape becoming Americans.  A merely half a century later, the sons of these refugees aligned themselves militarily with the British colonizer.  Together, they marched south and even burnt down the White House.

Hongkong is a country in the Chinese continent.  Hongkongese lives are very integrated into the Chinese economy, from food to sex, they acquire goods and services from north of the border.  They may have watched too much TV and forgotten a fair amount of the Cantonese languages, so many of them speak fluent Mandarin.  Yet, they will never admit themselves as Chinese.  They will take offence if someone has mistaken them as a Chinese.  They will punch you in the face.

...history to be written soon...They marched north and even burnt down the Forbidden Palace.

In summary, Hongkongers are Chinese as far as Canadians are Americans.
